Private Medical Insurance 6 How to Buy Private Medical Insurance You can buy a policy through The Pensions Partnership but always bear in mind that it is usually cheaper to have private medical insurance as part of a group. Many employers run schemes for employees and their families. These usually work out cheapest and may not have the limits and exclusions described. If you are a member of your employer's Group Scheme then the premium he pays for you will be treated as a "benefit in kind" and you will be taxed accordingly.
